Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Wimbledon Removals is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical and responsible manner. We recognise our duty to help prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we take to identify, mitigate, and address the risks of modern slavery and to promote a culture of transparency and accountability.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Wimbledon Removals provides residential and commercial removal, packing, and storage services. Our activities rely on a network of staff, contractors, and suppliers that may include vehicle hire companies, packaging material providers, storage facilities, and other logistics partners. We recognise that elements of the removals and logistics sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, particularly where temporary, seasonal, or subcontracted labour is used.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations and to every organisation that forms part of our supply chain. We will not knowingly engage with, or continue to work with, any individual, contractor, or supplier involved in practices that constitute modern slavery, including forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage, or exploitation of vulnerable workers.
All managers and supervisors are required to uphold this policy and ensure that teams understand the standards expected. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of employment or contract, and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We undertake due diligence on new suppliers and contractors to assess the risk of modern slavery within their operations. This includes requesting information about their employment practices, worker welfare provisions, and any relevant policies on modern slavery and human rights.
For higher-risk categories, such as labour agencies, subcontracted logistics services, or suppliers operating in sectors or regions with known vulnerabilities, we may conduct more detailed checks and require additional assurances. We reserve the right to conduct audits or site visits, either ourselves or through competent third parties, to verify compliance with our expectations.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If improvements are not made or if serious breaches are confirmed, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholders to raise concerns about suspected modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Reports can be made to line managers, senior management, or through existing internal reporting channels. We are committed to ensuring that no person who reports a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result.
All reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and, where appropriate, investigated promptly and impartially. Where there is evidence of criminal activity or serious risk to individuals, we will consider referring matters to the relevant enforcement bodies.
Training and Awareness
We aim to build awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. This includes communicating our zero-tolerance policy, explaining the signs of exploitation, and clarifying how concerns can be raised. Managers and those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management are expected to understand the potential risk indicators and to act swiftly when issues are identified.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must evolve as risks and best practices change. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through regular management review, consideration of any incidents reported, feedback from staff and suppliers, and developments in relevant legislation and guidance.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by the senior management of Wimbledon Removals. As part of this review, we assess the adequacy of our due diligence processes, supplier oversight, training, and reporting channels, and identify opportunities for improvement. Updated versions of this statement will reflect any enhancements to our policies, procedures, and control measures.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Wimbledon Removals, who are responsible for ensuring that it is communicated, understood, and implemented across the business and within our supply chains.
